IGBA 2010 Meeting Dates and Content

Membership meetings are held the third Monday of the month 7pm to 9pm (unless otherwise stated)

January 18 - Cornell Cooperative Extension - Board/Bylaws Election, Committee Updates, Discussion Forum on Windows and Doors

February 15 - Human Services Building - Representatives from Sustainable Tompkins, Green Resource Hub, Sustainable Enterprise and Entrepreneur Network, and Cayuga Sustainability Council will all visit to discuss the roles in the community and relationships with each other that these organizations have. Discussion will follow for areas of potential IGBA collaboration

March 21: Saturday 11am to 5pm  - Winter Retreat at Cayuga Nature Center, group meal, recreation and discussion. Topic: Working Effectively with Owner Builders

April 19:  Guest speaker: Peter Larson, Ashley McGraw Architects, Director of the Advanced Building Studio will discuss his thesis on a sustainable approach to building called "Blue Design". Discussion will follow.

May 17: Meeting will be held at  207 Madison St. in the Fall Creek neighborhood of Ithaca. Please bring your own chair.  Agenda will include a tour of Community Building Works! latest volunteer built home, Marcellus Shale Plan of Action.

June 21: 6pm - Meeting will be held at the Katzmann's residence. Bring something to share. Grill will be hot. The Living Building Challenge will be presented by ej George. The pond is open for swimming.

July 19: Meeting will be held at the "Earthship" home and hosted by Nate Litwin. Our Green Building topic for the evening is water conservation - anything from grey water systems to on site water retention, rain water collection low flow/waterless devices, and on-site waste water treatment that takes more complete advantage of effluent outflows. We will also close the nominations for our open board seat and have summary reports from our committees. We need to set a date for our retreat.
